Rikyu Sen, who indurated teaism, asked a craftsman living in Kyoto to make matcha bowls only for the tea ceremony. It was the beginning of Raku-Yaki and of all matcha bowls. There is Aka (red) Raku and Kuro (black) Raku, and both of them complement the green color of matcha much more than any other colors. Raku-Yaki has a feature of being very soft and warm to the touch by hands or mouth, and is the highest grade matcha used for the tea ceremony.
